Stay Safe Online
There are a few precautions we suggest you take:
- Never accept help from a stranger; call your bank.
- Only provide your bank account details to facilitate transactions that you have authorised.
- Always log on over a secure internet connection, and check that the website is secure (look for the padlock and HTTPS in the address bar).
- Do not log on to your bank account from cyber cafes, or over public Wi-Fi and hotspots.
- Beware of email and phone scams, including messages about competitions you have not signed up for. Do not respond to them or call back to verify.
- If a cybercriminal has obtained your account information, notify all your financial service providers immediately. Do not negotiate with cybercriminals, online or in person.
- In many cases, the information that has been obtained cannot be used to perform transactions.
- If you notice any irregular or suspicious activity on your account, contact the bank immediately.
